A little background on me

I’m Valerie Weaver, an independent professional funeral celebrant, here to provide you with the tribute you wish for your loved one.

As a person that has suffered a great deal of loss over the years, I wanted to start a new chapter in my life and use the lessons that I have learnt over time, helping others. In my work and hobbies, I have carried out public speaking, presentations and managing projects from cradle to grave. Skills I felt would set me in good stead to provide you with a bespoke service, creating the best possible send off, for a loved family member or friend, in their final farewell.

I realised shortly after the sudden death of my brother, that I could help other people through this difficult period, following the loss of a loved one. After a few years, I decided to train as a Celebrant and I obtained the Certificate of Distinction in Funeral Celebrancy from the Academy of Professional Celebrants. I can provide empathy, understanding and support in the process of arranging a funeral and life tribute, for the family and friends of the deceased.

For many families not used to bereavement, they are not sure how to receive a ‘stranger’ into their very private world of grief, often not knowing what to say or how to react but almost every time families are relived following a visit from a celebrant.

I have the ability to talk on any level to the families making them feel comfortable becoming part of their inner circle for that period in time, up to and including the service.

The Ceremony for your loved one, is the heart of the funeral and will be a fitting tribute, reflecting clearly the life, values and beliefs of the person who has died. It will acknowledge and give time to their community of family and friends, and create an environment in which the grieving process can be held and supported.

Funeral Ceremonies With Meaning image
I facilitate at civil ceremonies and deliver a unique, individual bespoke eulogy. This I achieve by meeting the close family and gaining an understanding of the personality and character of the deceased, what were their passions and values and to learn about their life.. This enables me to tell their story and to celebrate and honour their life.

Although the service may be a civil one, religious content such as prayers and hymns can be included if you wish. The most important thing at the end of the day, is that the wishes of the family are met, and therefore very little is out of bounds. I will deliver the service that YOU want.
